Med h\u00f6ghastighetst\u00e5g kan t\u00e5g f\u00e4rdas i hastigheter \u00f6ver 300 km\/h, vilket g\u00f6r restiden upp till 800 km kortare med t\u00e5g \u00e4n med bil eller flyg. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r p\u00e5skyndar de inte bara den ekonomiska utvecklingen, utan ers\u00e4tter ocks\u00e5 kortdistansflyg med h\u00f6ghastighetst\u00e5g, vilket minskar koldioxidutsl\u00e4ppen och tar bort ol\u00e4genheterna och bullret fr\u00e5n flygplatserna.<\/p>\n

Endast 6 av 27 EU-l\u00e4nder har lokala h\u00f6ghastighetst\u00e5gf\u00f6rbindelser, och h\u00f6ghastighetst\u00e5g mellan EU:s huvudst\u00e4der \u00e4r ganska s\u00e4llsynta. Europa forts\u00e4tter att f\u00f6rsumma potentialen f\u00f6r utveckling av infrastruktur f\u00f6r l\u00e5ngv\u00e4ga h\u00f6ghastighetst\u00e5g. Den positiva ekonomiska effekten av byggandet av h\u00f6ghastighetst\u00e5g skulle m\u00e4tas i miljarder euro, och EU:s minskade koldioxidutsl\u00e4pp skulle vara i storleksordningen hundratals miljoner ton koldioxid.<\/p>\n

F\u00f6r att knyta samman Europas huvudst\u00e4der med h\u00f6ghastighetst\u00e5g m\u00e5ste l\u00e4nderna arbeta tillsammans, och d\u00e4rf\u00f6r har vi lanserat ett europeiskt medborgarinitiativ.
